Session I: HIV/AIDS Overview – After 20 years:
The Changing Face of AIDS

Presenter: Mrs. Mary Correro,
Bilingual Health Educator, medical Interpreter
San Mateo County AIDS Program, Health Services

MARY CORRERO is a bilingual Health Educator and medical interpreter. She has been with the agency for 14 years. Provide health education on a variety of topics related to the management of HIV disease, including medication education, safer sex counseling, nutritional advice, smoking cessation and other areas of health promotion as related to HIV/AIDS. Trained by the UCSF AIDS Health Project and the CA State office of AIDS. Also received training as medical interpreter through an internship at Stanford University Medical Center and is currently employed as a relief interpreter. Previous experience and training as interpreter/translator while living in Mexico for 20 years

 

Session II: HIV and Communication Issues

Presenter: Mr. Chris Thibodeaux
Bilingual Social Worker,
San Mateo County AIDS Program

CHRIS THIBODEAUX is a bilingual Social Worker. He has worked in HIV/AIDS field for 4 years, including 2 years with San Mateo County AIDS Program. He is currently pursuing a Master Degree at SF State. Chris has a large case load of Spanish-speaking clients and provides case management services in all 3 HIV clinics sites in the county. While living in Mexico he taught English and Spanish.

Take Hwy 101 South to San Mateo

Exit @ Hillsdale Blvd/Foster City Exit. Follow signs to E. Hillsdale Blvd (West).

Turn Right and continue towards Hillsdale Mall at el Camino Real (Hwy 82)

Turn Left @ El Camino Real (82) and continue south to 39th Ave (approx. 3 long blocks).

Turn Right on w. 39th Ave (corner SLEEP TRAIN STORE), continue on to Edison St.

Turn Right on Edison St to access visitor parking lot.

 

        From EAST BAY:

Take San Mateo Bridge to Hwy 101 South

Exit from Hwy 101 South @ Hillsdale Blvd/Foster City.  Follow signs to E. Hillsdale Blvd (West).

Turn Right and continue towards Hillsdale Mall at el Camino Real (Hwy 82)

Turn Left @ El Camino Real (82) and continue south to 39th Ave (approx. 3 long blocks).

Turn Right on w. 39th Ave (corner SLEEP TRAIN STORE), continue on to Edison St.

Turn Right on Edison St to access visitor parking lot.

 

        From SAN JOSE:

 Take Hwy 101, North to San Mateo

Exit @ Hillsdale Blvd/Foster City Exit. Turn Left over freeway (west) to Hillsdale Blvd, and continue on towards Hillsdale Mall at El Camino Real (Hwy 82).

Turn Left @ El Camino Real (Hwy 82) and continue South to W. 39th Ave (corner SLEEP TRAIN STORE) continue on to Edison St.

Turn Right on Edison to Access Visitor Parking lot.

 Additional visitor parking lot available on W. 37th Ave. There is 2 hour Street parking limit enforced on Saturdays.
